WAN networks

Large enterprises with multiple branches or chain stores need to ensure communication between their locations to ensure collaboration between users in different places. These needs include not only data transmission but also voice and video transmission. WAN networks (Wide Area Networks) allow you to combine branch LAN networks into one organism.

Design, construction and configuration of a wide area WAN computer network for companies

Despite the fact that in modern solutions the boundary between LAN and WAN networks is apparently blurring, the necessity to use the services of telecommunications operators is still an important distinguishing feature of WAN networks. Building a wide area network is not an easy task because the required network services are not always available in different locations. It may also happen that no fixed links are available - then the only option is to use expensive satellite links, radio lines or to use the solutions of wireless operators of cellular networks. The latter type of connectivity has been gaining popularity recently due to high performance (for LTE downlink 300 Mb / s, uplink 50 Mb / s), availability in many areas and ease of access to the service. Cellular services are ideal for building backup links, they allow for the creation of connectivity for seasonal and mobile locations.

As the amount and scope of network services required in WANs is constantly expanding, the real challenges are:

  • ensuring sufficiently efficient links,
  • reduction of maintenance costs.

In both cases, we have extensive experience gained during implementations - starting from a network of several branch offices, ending with very large projects covering over 1000 locations. We provide the selection of appropriate services available from operators, management of contacts with operator companies, optimization of network maintenance costs.

IP telephony systems in WAN networks

WAN networks are increasingly using IP telephony systems, videoconferences and electronic meetings are organized. The presence of new services forces the introduction of much higher requirements related to the efficiency of telecommunications links. The integration of various services in one network also necessitates the use of network traffic prioritization mechanisms (QoS - Quality of Service). It is possible to precisely control the baud rate for different protocols and even for different applications. E-mail systems do not require such high bit rates and low delays as voice and video transmission. We can also precisely adjust the appropriate transmission parameters in the WAN network for terminal connections, ERP systems and telemetry systems.

VPN implementation

We also implement solutions based on encrypted channels in the public Internet network (VPN - Virtual Private Network), even for applications for security reasons previously reserved for dedicated lines. New hardware-supported encryption technologies are efficient, safe and cost-effective due to the many times lower costs of access lines to the Internet than dedicated lines. VPN connections can be continuous (e.g. between branches) or set up on demand (e.g. by remote employees).
