REPORT FROM THE MEETING "RANSOMWARE - A GREAT THREAT FOR COMPANIES AND ORGANIZATIONS IN POLAND. HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF?" - POZNAŃ CONCORDIA DESIGN - JUNE 11, 2025
On Wednesday, June 11, in the industrial spaces of Concordia Design, we once again hosted our Clients. This time, the topic of the meeting was cyber threats, especially ransomware attacks, and solutions that allow us to defend IT systems against such attacks or minimize their effects.
The meeting was divided into several modules. At the beginning, Piotr Flis (UpGreat) welcomed the guests, presented the agenda of the meeting and emphasized the need for active defense against threats to IT systems in the context of recent attacks on companies and institutions in Poland.

ToggleThe threat landscape for IT systems in 2025 or what threatens us?
In the next module, Jakub Staśkiewicz (OpenSecurity, Trainer, Auditor, Certified Ethical Hacker) discussed in detail the threats to IT systems in Poland. The most popular attack methods and the mechanisms behind them were presented. The audience learned what a cyber kill chain is, what the Mitre ATT&CK matrix is, and what standard functionalities of operating systems and applications can be used to gain unauthorized access to the data of enterprises and organizations (Lolbin/Lolbas).
In the second part of the module, Jakub Staśkiewicz and Piotr Flis discussed good practices in the area of cybersecurity of IT/OT systems in the form of a dialogue with the audience.

Can storage protect corporate data from encryption?
In this part, Łukasz Bajer (ALEF Polska, storage cybersecurity consultant) discussed the dedicated ransomware protection functionalities of Netapp arrays and showed their operation live. The ONTAP array operating system can recognize the characteristic activity accompanying file encryption by ransomware (AI-powered Autonomous Ransomware Protection – ARP) and take actions appropriate to the set policies, e.g. create a snapshot copy resistant to deletion attempts (SnapLock). ONTAP additionally offers MFA/MAV, i.e. two-factor authentication and the need to provide credentials of more than one administrator when performing particularly important administrative activities. The array also offers digital bunker functionalities (Cyber Vaulting & Air-Gapped WORM).
In his second presentation, Łukasz Bajer introduced the scalable deduplicators from Exagrid. Backup built on the basis of EX-27 – EX189 devices ensures minimal and unchangeable data retention time (Retention Time-Lock), immutable objects (Immutable Objects), as well as delayed deletion of backup copies (Delayed Deletion).
